But if Saban quit today, Sark would be my first choice.

Hopefully we at least have 2 or 3 more years to figure it out. I'm not saying Sark would be my definite #1 pick. But the problem may be that if he is able to be that successful at Texas, he may not leave. His ability to develop QBs is outstanding, and he can recruit as well as anyone. I think with Sark you would get all of the offensive genius of Kiffin, but also with more discipline on offense, as long as he stays sober. I think Texas will be in the Big 12 championship and may win it. I think a lot of people overreacted to the loss to Arkansas. Hopefully, Saban will be around long enough to see if Sark will be successful. As somebody else said, he is much like Nate Oats in his attitude and his use of analytics. MORE: Lane Kiffin coaching timeline: Tracking career path from USC through Alabama to Ole Miss It was only one possession, but it shows Kiffin won't be afraid to take it to the top-ranked team in. That is likely a futile effort for most all coaches, but Kiffin is just cocky enough to relish the opportunity. Kiffin can't get out of his own dumbass way. It would be a step back for us, but we may have to learn to be content with a 5 year record of that. A lot of fan bases would kill to have that. For example, in 5 years, two SEC championships, a loss in the SECCG, a national championship, and a loss in the semifinals. It may be extremely difficult to replace Saban who will achieve even half his success. Cristobal gets love from Bama fans because he was an assistant here and because he's a good recruiter. But that doesn’t necessarily translate into a good head coach. State in year 5, is not something that anyone on this board would tolerate, especially from a guy who was 27-47 in his last stop with a 3-9 record the year he got fired. Lane Kiffin is the best offensive mind in college football Thank goodness you are the one in charge of hiring Ed’s replacement Yes he’s a GREAT OC. But to lose to the equivalent of South Carolina and Missouri both in year 4, followed by literally giving away a game to the equivalent of Miss. Making multiple boneheaded decisions that you and I and every reader in this thread immediately recognizes as incompetent isn't a "mistake." I agree that we won't find someone who is flawless.
